39 Westgate Street
Structural repairs, revealing timber framing and conservation of Tudor wall paintings
39 and 41 Westgate Street are early timber framed buildings, dating from the middle of the 16thC which may originally have been built as one property.
39 was extended upwards in the early 1800s. Both have serious structural issues and are on our ‘at risk’ register. Both have interesting timbers and the original timber framing to the side elevation of 39 is still intact and has been revealed during building investigation.
No 39 saw its timber framing conserved and the upper floors were converted into two quality flats. a Tudor wall painting was revealed during works which was conserved and can be viewed in the first floor flat.
